2020 Holiday Gift Guide - Kode, style

by Kristen Kruchowski

The last thing anyone needs in 2020 is more "stuff" (read: junk). So, I present to you my 2020 Gift Guide which only includes things I already own and love or things that are on my list this year. Most of the items have a health and wellness twist because... well, that's my thing. But it's also the thing that makes them useful. Read on for gift giving, Kode-style

Sakara meals  The Ultimate gift. Organic, plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GMO, no refined sugar, and delicious meals delivered to you or your recipients door. Choose from 2, 3, or 5 day meal programs. Ordering a week of Sakara meals is seriously one of my most indulgent and favorite things to do for myself. Not having to grocery shop, cook, and cleanup afterwards while knowing that I'm eating insanely nutrient dense meals is the greatest thing ever. The meals are pricey but worth it. If that's not in your budget right now, they have amazing products in their Clean Boutique and Holiday shop to choose from as well. I especially love the Chlorella water drops (don't worry, they're basically tasteless) and the Popcorn Trio Tin (such a good gift idea!). Take 20% off your first order with code: XOTHEKODE

The Pill serum from The Nue Co I've been using The Pill serum for about 2 weeks now and I love it. It's a single daily dose of every key nutrient for the skin. From complex AHAs, to Hyaluronic Acid to the K-Beauty hero Tiger Grass, The Nue Co has taken out the complexity of layering actives and acids and combined it all in a one-step solution that they say creates smooth, dewy and deeply hydrated skin. Sound's good to me. My "skin care routine" is definitely on the minimal side and I swear I can't keep up with what serum does what and in what order everything is supposed to be applied. So, The Pill is perfect for me.  All of their products are clean and free from toxic preservatives and additives. The ingredients are responsibly sourced, with 95% of the materials being infinitely recyclable. The Nue Co has awesome supplements and probiotic products I plan to try soon too.

The Always Pan from Our Place  I now own two of these pans. Exactly the same pan, just in different colors. My Mom sent me the first one as a gift (thanks, Mom!) and I loved it (clearly, since I ordered a second). I didn't understand the hype at first, but once I used it a few times... I got it. It's intended to replace eight pieces of cookware, as you can braise, sear, steam, strain, saute, fry, boil, and serve food in this thing. It comes with a steamer basket and a wooden spatula. Cleanup is beyond easy. I use it nonstop. The color options are really nice too (my new one is Lavender). Would make an awesome gift for yourself or for practically anyone. The regular price is $145, but right now you can get it for $95 with their discount code SUPERSALE

Three Bays Premium Australian Mineral Water  If you know anything about our water in the US, you know it's treated with some fairly nasty chemicals to remove pollutants etc. In the course of that processing, mineral content is also partially destroyed. Most bottled water is no better than tap, if not worse. Buying spring water is your smartest option. Enter, Three Bays Premium Australian Mineral Water with their outstanding mineral balance and an incredible purity that rivals any known mineral water in the world. It's sourced from an ancient aquifer, known as the Palaeolithic Basement, which lies directly beneath the Mornington Peninsula at a depth of 900 meters. It is believed to be 600 million years old and draws its water from New Zealand, where rainfall seeps into the ground and trickles through tectonic plates to feed the aquifer. Umm, yeah...This is the good stuff. It's a little pricey, but a case would make an excellent gift for anyone who cares about their health. Great self-care gift too! I recently ordered a few cases and now the problem is it's all I want to drink. Lol!

Side note: a more affordable and convenient option for general water buying is Mountain Valley Spring Water  Sold in green glass bottles and usually available in most grocery stores

Spawn Fitness Pro Series Resistance Bands If you've seen any of my workout videos on Instagram or YouTube, you know I love to use resistance bands. I use them in my own workouts and for personal training clients. Resistance bands are an essential element to any home fitness program. Versatile, functional, and easy to store, this set from Spawn is one of my favorites. Especially great for glute workouts, it comes in a set of 3 bands of varying resistance. The bands stay in place and are made of a durable, high quality fabric. Great gift for yourself or for anyone missing their gym or studio fitness fix (because covid).

Sun Potion Pearl Powder  Really, you can't go wrong with any Sun Potion product, I especially love their sustainable fresh water Pearl Powder right now. Pearl is a revered longevity food that has been used for centuries by Taoist Herbalists to support one's inner and outer radiance. It is an excellent source of minerals including calcium, zinc, iron, selenium, and amino acids. Pearl has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and helps to support the body's natural collagen production, even out and clear up skin, strengthen bones, support the nervous system, healthy sleep cycles, and the Shen (Spirit). Who doesn't need some of this? I add it to smoothies or teas daily and it has virtually no taste. Their product packaging is sustainable and cool looking and Sun Potion only sources organic and/or Wildcrafted products and never uses ingredients that have been chemically treated in any way. Great gift.

Noli Iridescent Face Shield This face shield is ridiculous... in the best way. Since our current world is even more ridiculous (in the worst way), this badass face shield helps one rise above the madness and meet the day with futuristic I can see you but you can't see me fashion forward vibes. I silently laugh at myself the few times I've worn it, which is always a bonus. A highly entertaining gift for strange times. Noli has 35% off their entire site now for Black Friday.

The Guppy Friend Washing Bag The Guppy Friend is a bag to wash all of your synthetic material clothes in which prevents microfiber plastic pollution from entering our rivers and streams. Every time you wash anything made from synthetic materials, countless plastic fibers from synthetic textiles make their way from washing machines into rivers and oceans.
The Guppy friend Washing Bag filters out the tiniest microfibers released from textiles during washing. The self-cleaning fabric bag is made of a specially designed micro-filter material. Simply collect the fibers and dispose of them properly. The profits from the sale of the Guppyfriend Washing Bag go to STOP! Micro Waste and the STOP! Plastic Academy to raise awareness about (micro)plastic pollution and to educate students, adults and industry partners about the problem. I just ordered one. Buy one for yourself and one for a friend :)

Sweatshirt or Sweatpants from The PANGAIA  Since we're all living in sweatpants, they might as well be cool af ones made from recycled and organic cotton. The PANGAIA is a materials science company on a mission to save the environment. It's a global collective of scientists, technologists, and designers creating essential products from innovative tech and bio-engineered materials. The range uses bio-based, recycled fibres and materials made from recycled plastic bottles. They combine natural botanical dyes made from natural sources such as plants, with innovative antibacterial peppermint to stay fresh for longer. Into it! The clothes are oversized, comfortable, high quality, and come in a wide variety of colors. I've got a set in flamingo pink. Excellent gift.

Happy gifting, my friends!
